Editorial board changes
Doctors Thomas W. Shields, William A. Gay, Jr, John W. Hammon, Jr, and Julie A. Swain rotated off the Editorial Board at the January 2002 meeting of The Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Dr Shields, Book Review Editor, has retired after 18 years of distinguished service. Dr Gay leaves after 12 years of outstanding service as a member of the editorial board and one year as the pioneer Associate Editor for Language. This latter post, an experiment, is beingdiscontinued; after analysis of the problem, another approach is needed. Drs Hammon and Swain are ending nine-year terms of dedicated, distinguished and loyal service. All of these individuals leave with the sincere thanks of both the present editor, immediate past editor and all editorial staff members. Their fair and dedicated handling of manuscripts has contributed greatly to the success of The Annals.
