Implantation techniques for the Hemopump

Techniques for implantation of the Hemopump, an intraarterial, axial- flow
circulatory assist device, are described. The Hemopump, which is currently
undergoing clinical investigation, has been used successfully to treat
patients experiencing profound left ventricular failure in a variety of
clinical situations, including postcardiotomy shock, acute myocardial
infarction, cardiac allograft rejection, and cardiac allograft failure.
